2009 Wagner Speedway Pro Stock Rules
RULE
BOOK DISCLAIMER
The
rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for
the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable
requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of
all events, and by participating in these events, all participating in
these events, all participants are deemed to have compiled with these
rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY
OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE
RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are
intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a
guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator, or
official.
The
race director shall be empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate
deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any
further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum
acceptable requirements. Any interpretation or
deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials.
Their decision is final.
No courtesy races will be given. All competitors must comply with the rules in the division they have entered or you will not be allowed to compete. No exceptions.
DRIVERS AND PIT
CREWS PRIOR TO, OR DURING ANY RACING EVENT WILL NOT CONSUME ANY
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES. NO ONE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS OR ALCOHOL WILL
BE ALLOWED AT THE RACEWAY.
RAIN
POLICY
We
all wish for blue sunny skies on race day, but if the weather turns
here’s what you need to do…..
In the event that rain puts a halt to our racing program, the race will be considered done if all the heat races are fully done. NO RAIN CHECKS WILL BE ISSUED and the feature races will be run before the start of next weeks racing program, with complete race program to follow. If the heat races are not completed, RAIN CHECKS WILL BE ISSUED, and a complete program will be run the following week. ALL RAIN CHECKS MUST BE USED WITH (2) WEEKS FOLLOWING THE RAIN OUT. Rain Checks CANNOT be used on Special Events.
SAFETY: Helmets are required and must be Snell SA95, SA2000 or SA2005. Helmet must be worn at all times car is on the track and must accompany vehicle at time of inspection. Roll bar padding required in driver compartment. Fire retardant padding recommended. SFI approved fire suits of a flame retardant nature must be worn by all competitors. Fire retardant underwear, neck brace, socks, shoes and gloves mandatory. Full-size (minimum 16"x20") driver-side window net required (no string-type nets). Window net to be mounted so latch is at top front of window. Five point safety belts, sub belt, shoulder harness required. The shoulder harness must be mounted securely to the roll cage. Belts and harness recommended not to be more than three years old. Aluminum high back seats only, must be bolted in. Kill switch required within easy reach of driver. Switch must be clearly marked 'OFF' and 'ON'.
Weight Rule
1.0a The Pro Stocks will have a total weight rule of at least 3000 lbs after the race including driver. Greater then 361 cu inch is 3400 pounds. (No tolerance)
Car Bodies
2.1a
1970 or newer
2.1b The only cutting allowed will be for placement of roll cage and tire clearance.
2.1c Steel rub rails no bigger than one inch by two inches may be attached to body from fender well to fender well and rear quarter panel, flush with body.
2.1d All windows in body will remain open. Opera windows may have lexan for appearance.
2.1e Must have a minimum of three windshield bars in front of driver.
2.1f Maximum seven-inch metal sun visor may be added to top of windshield opening.
2.1g Stock appearing plastic nose and tail-pieces may be used.
2.1h 8 in Spoiler Allowed.
2.1i Aluminum OE hoods allowed. Hood must separate from fenders – no one-piece or tilt front ends.
2.1j No cutting of firewall except for roll cage clearance. All holes in front and rear firewalls are to be covered with metal. Front firewall may be replaced with steel.
2.1k Dash is not to extend more than 24 inches back from center of lower windshield opening. Dash must be flat except for cowl in front of driver. No other interior tinning is allowed.
2.1l All glass removed, no mirrors allowed.
2.1m
All Wagner
2.1n No car will be allowed to compete with excessive body damage (excessive body damage to be determined by track Officials).
2.1o Bumpers must be used both front and rear and must contain no sharp edges. Any inappropriate bumper will be disallowed. Front bumper should be mounted frame-end to frame-end. Fabricated bumpers allowed must be covered.
2.1p Wagner Speedway reserves the right, in the public image of the sport, to assign, to approve or disapprove any advertising, sponsorship or similar agreement in connection with any event. All cars must be neat appearing and are subject to approval of track officials to compete.
2.1q Trunk floor over rear end housing may be removed. May remove entire trunk floor.
2.1r May tin in Cockpit
2.1s If using a newer front wheel drive body on an old chassis body must be squared up on the frame. Not offset to the left
2.1t All trunks and hoods must be securely fastened. Back of hood must be sealed off from driver’s compartment.
2.1u Rear Bumper must be capped to body
2.1v May cut a hole in the hood for air cleaner cleaner clearance. Air cleaner may stick out of the hood.
Roll cages
2.2a Must use .095 inch tubing, at least 1.5 inch diameter for main cage and door bars. No offset cages.
2.2b Four post roll cage must be used, front and rear hoop welded to the OEM frame.
2.2c Rear hoop must have an "X" brace, front down bars must be tied together. Must be a minimum of 40 inches between front and rear down bars at the top of the door panel.
2.2d No more than 41 inches from top center of windshield to front edge of rear hoop; no more than 25 inches to front edge of front hoop and top halo must be no less than 40 inches across, outside to outside.
2.2e Rear kickers and front hoop must be minimum 1.25 inch tubing, with .083-inch wall thickness.
2.2f Three horizontal door bars on both sides mandatory.
2.2g
Minimum of four uprights tied from frame to top door bar on driver’s side,
three on passenger side.
2.2h May have two bars for protection in front of radiator, behind bumper, within confines of body, no wider than stock frame horns. May tie front horns together. All bars, front and rear, must be inside body.
2.2i Must have a minimum of one cross bar in top halo of roll cage.
2.2j Steel door plates, 18 gauge or .049-inch minimum thickness metal, must be securely welded to outside of door bars on driver’s side. Plate must cover the area from the top door bar to the rocker panel and from the rear down post to six inches front of seat. Must be visible for inspection.
2.2k Must have a tow hook front and rear.
2.3a Must be securely mounted and shielded.
2.3b one 12-volt battery only, must be in a marine type case and mounted in trunk area.
Wheels
2.4a All wheels must be fifteen (15) inches in diameter and eight (8) inches in width. No stickers required.
2.4b Wheels must be reinforced steel only.
2.4c May use bead lock on all four wheels.
2.4d No homemade mud caps / wheel covers allowed on right side only.
2.4e Spacer or adaptor, or offset wheel, or combination of the two allowed, but cannot exceed two inches total offset per wheel.
2.4f May weld three tabs, no more than two inches long, on wheel for mounting of mud cap.
2.4g Bleeder valves are NOT allowed.
Tires
2.5a Any 8in. tire can race.
2.5b No recaps.
Frame
2.6a No Mustangs.
2.6b Minimum wheelbase is 107.5-inches. Both sides – no more than one inch difference from side to side.
2.6c GM uni-body’s minimum is 107.5 inches.
2.6d Stock frame must match for GM cars, year to year and make to make. Any After market body allowed!
2.6e 1980 or newer Ford uni-bodies may be replaced with Ford full frames. (Note: may be shortened to 107.5 inch minimum).
2.6f Frames and cross members may not be altered in any way for engine placement.
2.6g All Frames must be completely stock except rail may be replaced from spring pocket back.---Not on unibody!!
2.6h Motor must be no farther back then #1 plug even with ball joint.
2.6i Metric frames and Ford frames must have the back of the fuel pump in front of the cross member, and cross member may not be altered in anyway.
2.6j Frames may be "X" braced.
2.6k No titanium products, parts or components allowed anywhere on race car.
2.6l No air bags allowed.
2.6m Spray bars allowed
Brakes
2.7a Must be operating on all four wheels and must lock up all four wheels during inspection. Must have caliper and rotor on all four wheels.
2.7b No electronic brake actuators will be permitted.
2.7c Must be approved OE, operative four wheel drum or disc brake combination.
2.7d Brake lines must be outside frame rails and visible.
2.7e Vented rotors only, no scalloped rotors. Rotors cannot be lightened. No floating brakes.
2.7f No brake shut-off or pressure sensitive devices. One proportioning device allowed, front to rear only.
Fuel cell
2.8a Racing fuel cell required, no boat or stock automotive fuel tanks.
2.8b Must be securely fastened inside trunk of car, and be mounted by at least two 1/8 inch solid steel straps, two inches wide around cell, above level of stock trunk floor.
2.8c Fuel cells must be in steel container.
2.8d Firewall must be between driver and fuel cell.
2.8e All cell mounts must be steel, attached to frame/cage. No adjustable fuel cell mounts.
2.8f Fuel cell vents must have a check valve.
2.8g Fuel lines through driver compartment must be in metal pipe or metal conduit. No fuel filters in driver compartment.
2.8h A limit of one standard fuel filter is allowed between the fuel cell and the carburetor. No cool cans allowed.
2.8i Carb adaptor plate or spacer may be used, one inch maximum.
Fuel/Fuel Pump
2.9a Gas only; no Alcohol. The fuel shall not be blended with ethers or other oxygenates and it shall not be blended with aniline or its derivatives, nitro compounds or other nitro containing compounds.
2.9b No electric fuel pumps allowed.
Exhaust System/Mufflers
2.10a Must be mounted in such a way as to direct spent gases away from cockpit of vehicle and away from area of possible fuel spillage.
2.10c No ‘zoomies’.
2.10d 180 degree cross over headers are O.K.
2.10e Must remain dual exhaust, NO ‘Y’ pipes allowed.
Weights
2.11a Loose objects and/or weights must not be used in driver’s compartment or outside of body or hood area. Any weights added to other areas of vehicle must be securely mounted and should be painted white and have the car number on it and attached with at least two (2)1/2 inch bolts. No weights may be attached to rear bumper.
2.12 Computers
2.12a
No computers allowed on car, including, but not limited to, electronic traction
devices. Any driver caught with traction control is subject to a $5000 fine and
a one-year suspension from all Tomahawk
Aspiration
2.13a One two (2) barrel carburetor properly installed will be permitted. Must be naturally aspirated. No fuel injection, No aerosol carburetors. Can run stock gas 4412 holley ONLY, it must have stock measurements must have boosters and "NO" 6425 nascar carbs.
2.13b
No predator carburetors allowed.
2.14 Drive shaft
2.14a Loop required and must be constructed of at least ¼ inch by two (2) inch solid steel and should be mounted no more than six (6) inches from the front of the drive shaft tube. Two drive shaft loops of ¼ inch by one (1) inch solid steel fastened to the cross member of the car is an allowable alternative.
2.14b Drive shaft must be painted white. Steel drive shaft only.
2.14c Minimum 2-inch diameter steel drive shaft must be painted white. Steel drive shafts and yokes only.
Transmission
2.15a Must have at least one gear forward and reverse, plus a neutral position. With motor running and car in still position, driver must be able to engage car in gear and move forward, then backward.
2.15b Functioning shifter must be in stock location on transmissions.
2.15c The flywheel must be bolted directly to the end of the crankshaft, and the pressure plate must be bolted directed to the flywheel. One flywheel only, and all driveline components with the bell housing must rotate while the car is in any gear. No INERNAL Clutchs, NO BERTS AND NO Brinns.
2.15d All manual gear-type transmissions must have a standard OEM case and must have a working external-disc clutch inside an explosion-proof steel bell housing.
2.15e Automatic transmissions must remain in OEM stock appearing automatic case with a functioning stock appearing pump. Original bell housing must remain.
2.15f Must have an approved scatter shield or blanket. Scatter shield may be constructed of .25-inch by three inch steel, 270 degrees around flex plate or flywheel.
Rear End
2.16a Any approved OEM passenger car type or truck rear end permitted. Floaters permitted.
2.16b Rear suspension must match frame, stock components only, after market arms allowed. No pan hard bars allowed. No aluminum allowed, except lowering blocks, axle cap, and drive flange. A one-inch inspection hole in center section is recommended. Car may have 50% of rear spring in front of rear end housing.
2.16c Full steel spool, steel mini-spool or welded rear ends only. Steel axles only.
2.16d Quick change steering devices allowed.
2.16e No cambered rear ends, one piece drive flange only.
2.16f No electronic or mechanical traction control device allowed.
2.16g After market Steering Pump Allowed
2.16h Lower trailing arm brackets no lower than six inches from center of axle tubes and must be same side to side. One mounting hole only no adjustments.
Steering
2.17a Steering must be O.E.M. No rack and pinion allowed. Must remain within original bolt pattern for type of frame used. In cockpit, steering may be modified to suit driver, but must remain on left side of cockpit. No center steering.
Radios
2.18a No transmitting or listening devices allowed in car.
Suspension – No aluminum or titanium! Magnet must stick to all components
2.19a Weight jacks are optional, no devices allowed that would enable driver adjustment to alter wheelbase or for weight jacking while car is in competition.
2.19b Front suspension and steering must be unaltered approved OE in stock location, and must be replaceable by stock part.
2.19c Stock passenger car spindles only, no fabricated spindles.
2.19d Bottom A-frames cannot be altered or moved.
2.19e Lower A-frames and spindles must match frame. Upper tubular A-frames legal. Adjustable and non adjustable legal
2.19f No offset or bearing type lower control arm bushings.
2.19g Suspension, steering, and rear-end parts must be steel.
2.19h No titanium products, allowed anywhere on racecar.
Engine
2.20a 360 cubic inch limit! Must be stock appearing. Absolutely no changes allowed.
2.20b All engines used in competition must be able to be used in conventional passenger without alteration.
2.20c Motor mounts cannot be removed or altered on engine block. Casting and fittings must not be changed.
2.20d No machine work on outside of engine or on front or rear of camshaft.
2.20e Roller rocker arms are legal. No roller cams
2.20f Starter must bolt in stock location.
2.20g Must run GM with GM, Ford to Ford, etc.
2.20h All cars must have the capability of starting without being pushed or pulled. All cars must join lineup on demand, unaided, or go to the rear of that race.
2.20i No aluminum heads or blocks. Any iron head allowed. Bow Tie or aluminum Victor JR intake allowed.
2.20j Aluminum water pumps allowed.
2.20k No electric or belt driven fuel pumps.
2.20l Cooling system may be modified, no sprinkler systems allowed. One radiator only, and it must be mounted in front of the engine. Any overflow tubes must be directed to the ground, between frame rails.
2.20m Accumulators and Accu-sumps must be mounted in the middle of the car or behind the driver, but not on door bars.
2.20n Top flow air cleaner housings legal, cold air boxes or air cleaner duct work allowed.
Ignition
2.21a No magnetos or crank triggered ignitions. No more than one coil may be used.
2.21b Kill switch required within easy reach of the driver. The switch must be clearly marked "off" and "on".
Seats
2.21a Racing seats are mandatory, but must be factory manufactured and acceptable to track officials. Positively no homemade aluminum, plastic or fiberglass seats allowed. Seat must be properly installed and seat back cannot be moved back further than rear edge of quarter post. High back aluminum seats only.
Shocks
2.23a One per wheel. Racing shocks permitted.
2.23b Front shocks must be mounted to ‘A’ frame.
2.23c Rear shocks must be mounted, within two inches of center, to lower control arm bracket on rear end.
2.23d No sliding shock mounts. No coil-over eliminators allowed.
2.23e Shocks may be moved but must remain behind housing.
Safety requirements
3.1 Helmets are required and must be approved SHCA or Snell-type full coverage and must be worn at all times the car is on the track.
3.2 Helmets should accompany vehicle at time of inspection.
3.3 Helmets of at least Snell SA95 or SA2000 rating are mandatory.
3.4 Complete one-piece or two-piece fire suits of a flame retardant nature must be worn by all competitors at all times the car is on the track, including packing, warm ups, hot laps and races.
3.5 Fire resistant gloves are mandatory, fire resistant shoes are mandatory.
3.6 Five (5) point safety belts, sub belt and shoulder harness required. No factory type shoulder belts or straps allowed.
3.7 Metal to metal buckles are required on shoulder and seat belts.
3.8 The shoulder harness should be mounted securely to the roll cage. Seat belts and shoulder harness recommended not to be more than one (1) year old.
3.9 Where the belt passes through the seat edges, it must have a grommet installed, be rolled and/or padded to prevent cutting of the belt.
3.10
A full-size window net mounted in the left side driver’s window or approved
racing arm restraints are required. Window net mounts must be welded to the roll
cage. All bars around driver, must have roll bar padding. **Drivers
using arm restraints will be checked by tech if arm comes out of cockpit driver
will not race that race.
3.11 A quick release metal coupling on steering wheel mandatory. Absolutely no plastic couplings allowed.
3.12 Fire resistant safety neck collars are mandatory. Failure to do so is disqualification.
3.13 It is recommended that each car have built-in fire extinguishing equipment, but cannot be of the dry powder type (must be Halon 1211 or equivalent).
3.14 All entrants should have in their pit area as part of their equipment, at all times, a fully charged dry chemical, Halon, or its equivalent, fire extinguisher. Ten (10) or thirteen (13) pound fire extinguishers recommended.
3.15 Everyone must wear the required helmet, drivers suit and five point safety harness whenever in a race car, including packing, warm ups, hot laps and
races.
